Welcome from Executive Headteacher
Welcome to The Elms Primary School.
I have recently been appointed as the Executive Headteacher in September 2023, having previously been Headteacher at three Oxfordshire Primary Schools. We are delighted to continue to alongside Folly View Primary. As existing members of the Faringdon Learning Trust, the two schools have so much that they are able to celebrate, collaborate on, and share with one another and to provide the best quality education for all the Faringdon children. As the Executive Headteacher of both schools, I am confident that our continued strong working relationship will enable us to offer the best educational experiences for all our learners.
The Elms Primary school is situated in amazing grounds, and we are blessed with great playground space, and a fabulous field for the children to play on. We are looking forward to developing a new Forest School on these grounds this year, which helps young children to develop a much greater understanding of the world around them, how to work well as a team and skills that can't traditionally easily be learnt in the classroom.
We have 3 shared core values – Inspire, Believe, Achieve and these form the basis of our recognition and effort awards in our weekly celebration assembly, where we can celebrate the learning achievements or attitudes of those children who have gone over and above that week. We are focussed on ensuring that the wellbeing of those in our school community is key to our successes as a school. The children are given the opportunities to reflect on their learning and opportunities outside and inside to ensure that they are happy, healthy and well.
Under my leadership, staff from both our schools work closely together. We have created a shared leadership vision in order to ensure consistency and the sharing of effective practice. The whole staff team, whatever their role in school, are involved in this development process, giving your child consistency in expectations, respect and the teaching and learning culture in school.
We welcome visits to the school where you will always experience our warm, welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.
