    Vision:

PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Economic) at The Elms Primary school helps children to respectfully and safely understand their place in a diverse and changing world. As our learners grow, they will understand, challenge, and embed the social, moral, spiritual and cultural (SMSC) aspects of life in a flourishing community. Children will have a solid foundation for whatever challenging opportunities lie ahead, so they can face a world full of uncertainty with hope. Through PSHE pupils will be prepared for all the opportunities, challenges, life decisions and responsibilities they'll face.

This in turn achieves a 'virtuous circle', whereby pupils with better health and wellbeing can achieve better academically, and enjoy greater success. It is hoped that through these lessons, children will be able to understand and successfully navigate the future ahead of them.

'It's basically a bunch of stuff about feelings and myself.' (A year 6 child)

    Our Curriculum:

At The Elms Primary School, we follow the Jigsaw Schemes of Work, which is a mindful approach to PSHE. Jigsaw PSHE brings together P.S.H.E education along with emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development into a spiral curriculum. Lessons are split into 6 overarching units which are covered by the whole school at the same time.

In addition to Jigsaw, we supplement PSHE learning with the Mulberry Bush School Social and Emotional curriculum as well as the HSBC Money Hero's scheme.

'The calm me, helps me feel focused and learn- I use it outside of PSHE lessons.' E- Year 1

'I know that whatever job I do, it will prepare me for life- PSHE is for everyone.' B- Year 6
